Users of Serendipity Blackmagic/Veripress 5.4+ will now find that the current version of the Serendipity Polling Agent will not install or start as a service on a Windows XP / Windows Server 2003 system.
The reason being, in order to continue improving our software, Serendipity Software ceased support for Windows XP / Server 2003 operating systems from product versions 5.4 onwards. Refer to our website for up to date System Requirements.
Problem
Some users may be running a platesetter RIP on a machine running one of these older Windows operating systems, possibly because the platesetter RIP software is not compatible with current Windows operating systems.
Solution
It is still possible to poll these machines by installing the previous 5.3.03 version of the Serendipity Polling Agent.
Download and install the Serendipity Polling Agent 5.3.03 for your Windows 32bit or Windows 64bit system.
NOTE – while this workaround solution will function for v.5.4.xx releases, it may not work for future releases of our software. Wherever possible, we always recommend updating machines and operating systems to meet the minimum system requirements.
