I get a Windows error when trying to start my Serendipity Software package: “This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.”
This error message can appear when a Serendipity Software product fails to start successfully on a Windows based computer.
The error is generated when Visual Studio C++ plugin is not installed as part of your Windows operating system. This plugin is sometimes removed as part of the Windows Update process because it is not needed by the OS to function.
However, the plugin is required by current versions of Serendipity Software installations to run correctly. For this reason the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable package is included on all Serendipity Software installation DVDs.
Two Visual C++ installation packages are included on the DVD – one for Windows 32-bit and one for Windows 64-bit operating systems.
For Windows 32-bit: Run the executable “/windows/vcredist_x86.exe” from the DVD.
For Windows 64-bit: Run the executable “/windows/vcredist_x64.exe” from the DVD.
After the appropriate package has been installed to your operating system your Serendipity Software package should start and run correctly.
If you do not have the installation DVD, download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update from the Microsoft website.
